The Kingston A400 480GB is an internal solid-state drive for desktop and notebook users who want to upgrade from a mechanical hard drive or replace a smaller SSD. Its slim 2.5-inch, 7mm format suits compatible systems with a SATA drive connection.

With read speeds of up to 500MB/s and write speeds of up to 450MB/s, the A400 can improve boot, loading and file-transfer responsiveness compared with a mechanical hard drive. Its solid-state design has no moving parts, and Kingston describes it as resistant to shock and vibration, making it a practical option for mobile computers as well as desktops. The 480GB capacity provides space for applications and everyday files, while the SATA Rev. 3.0 interface is backwards compatible with SATA Rev. 2.0.
