The TP-Link Archer GE550 is a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 gaming router for players who want a faster wireless network and flexible wired connections for a gaming PC or console. It also suits busy homes that stream and download across several devices at once.

Its three Wi-Fi bands provide a combined rated speed of up to 9220 Mbps, with a 6 GHz band and Wi-Fi 7 features including Multi-Link Operation and 320 MHz bandwidth. For wired setups, it has two 5 Gbps ports and three 2.5 Gbps LAN ports. Gaming features include device prioritisation, game application acceleration and a dashboard for checking network status and gaming traffic.

Key features

• Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 operates across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.
• Multi-Link Operation can use the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands with compatible Wi-Fi 7 devices.
• QoS prioritises gaming applications on a busy network.
• A dedicated gaming port prioritises traffic from a connected gaming device.
• Four antennas with Beamforming help direct Wi-Fi signals towards connected devices.
• EasyMesh support lets you expand coverage with a compatible router or range extender.
• A USB 3.0 port supports sharing files from connected external storage.

Compatibility

Manage the router through the TP-Link Tether app or web interface. Wi-Fi 7 features such as MLO and 320 MHz bandwidth require compatible client devices. Connect a cable or DSL modem if your internet service requires one, and use a separate internet service provider subscription for access. Good to know: the modem and internet subscription are not included.
