The TP-Link Omada EAP725-Outdoor is a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 access point for businesses and other sites that need wireless coverage indoors and outdoors. It suits network installers extending connectivity to areas such as a warehouse, courtyard or poolside, as well as organisations building a centrally managed network across several access points.

Its four spatial streams deliver combined wireless rates of up to 3.6 Gbps, with up to 2882 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. A distinctive feature is the choice between built-in directional antennas and detachable omnidirectional antennas. The access point detects the external antennas when fitted, and its antenna mode can also be switched in software. Its IP66-rated enclosure and 6 kV lightning protection are designed for outdoor deployment. A 2.5G PoE port carries both power and data over one Ethernet connection.

Key features

• Wi-Fi 7 supports features including Multi-Link Operation, Multi-RUs and 4K-QAM when client devices also support them.
• Switchable directional and omnidirectional antenna coverage helps adapt wireless distribution to the site.
• Automatic detection changes antenna mode when the detachable external antennas are installed.
• Four spatial streams serve compatible devices across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
• The IP66 enclosure is made for indoor or outdoor installation.
• 6 kV lightning protection adds protection for outdoor network deployments.
• Wall or pole mounting supports flexible positioning.
• Omada SDN enables centralised management; mesh and seamless roaming are available with a compatible Omada controller.

Compatibility

Connect the 2.5G PoE port to a suitable Ethernet network and 802.3at PoE power source. Wi-Fi 7 features require compatible client devices, and centralised Omada functions require a controller. Good to know: the box contents do not list a PoE adapter, so plan for a compatible PoE source separately.
