The Ubiquiti ETH-SP-G2 is a grounded Ethernet surge protector for outdoor network equipment. It suits installers protecting an outdoor access point, camera or other Ethernet device, as well as network operators adding protection to a high-speed link.

Installed between the network cable and the device, its two passive RJ45 connections help divert damaging electrostatic discharge and surges safely to ground. It supports PoE and data line protection up to 2.5 Gbps, making it suitable for compatible modern Ethernet networks. The compact polycarbonate enclosure has IPX5 weatherproofing, and the unit can be mounted near the device or at a building entry point.

Compatibility

Use it in line with Ethernet equipment that has RJ45 connections, and ensure the protector is properly grounded. The supplied self-tapping screw can ground it directly to a grounded metal pole or structure when used with STP cable. Alternatively, a drain wire can connect it to a remote grounding point. Good to know: mounting accessories, a metal strap or cable tie, and the optional drain wire and M5 machine screw and nut are not included; plan a suitable grounding method and mounting hardware for your installation.
