With 64 cores and 128 threads, it suits workstation users who need substantial parallel processing capacity.

Its 3.2GHz base frequency can boost up to 5.1GHz, while 256MB of L3 cache and eight-channel DDR5 memory support help it handle complex workloads. The processor uses the sTR5 socket and provides PCIe 5.0 connectivity. AMD PRO technologies and AMD EXPO memory overclocking technology are supported.

Key features

64 cores and 128 threads for highly parallel workloads

Up to 5.1GHz boost frequency for demanding processor tasks

256MB L3 cache

Eight memory channels with DDR5 support up to 5200 MT/s

PCIe 5.0 support for compatible expansion devices

AMD PRO technologies for professional workstation use

AMD EXPO memory overclocking technology support

350W standard TDP

Compatibility

This tray processor fits an sTR5 motherboard; AMD lists WRX90, TRX50 and Pro 695 chipsets as supported. Confirm motherboard compatibility and firmware support before purchase. The box contents are listed as the CPU, and AMD states that a cooling solution is not included. A discrete graphics card is required because the processor does not provide integrated graphics. Good to know: this tray package does not include a cooler, so arrange compatible processor cooling separately.

In the box

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX

CPU

Specifications

Specification

Detail

Product type

Workstation processor

Part number

100-000000454

Package type

Tray

Socket

sTR5

Cores

64

Threads

128

Base frequency

3.2 GHz

Max boost frequency

Up to 5.1 GHz

L3 cache

256 MB

Memory type

DDR5

Memory channels

8

Memory specification

Up to 5200 MT/s

PCI Express version

PCIe 5.0

Standard TDP

350W

Supported chipsets

WRX90, TRX50, Pro 695

For a workstation build that benefits from high thread counts, large cache and current PCIe connectivity, the Threadripper PRO 7985WX provides a powerful CPU foundation.
