The TP-Link Omada SG2428P is a managed Gigabit switch for small and medium-sized businesses building out wired networks. Its 24 PoE+ ports suit installations with IP cameras, access points or VoIP phones, while the four SFP slots provide connections for compatible fibre links or network uplinks.

PoE+ carries both data and power over Ethernet, helping simplify device placement where a separate power connection is inconvenient. The switch supports 802.3af/at devices and provides a total PoE budget of 250 W, with up to 30 W available per port. For network administrators, Layer 2 and Layer 2+ tools include VLANs, access control lists, quality of service, IGMP snooping and static routing. It can be managed on its own through a web interface, CLI, SNMP or RMON, or integrated into the Omada SDN platform for centralised network management.

Compatibility

Connect PoE devices to the RJ45 ports and use compatible Gigabit SFP modules for fibre links. Omada cloud access, centralised management and zero-touch provisioning require an Omada controller; zero-touch provisioning requires the cloud-based controller. Good to know: SFP modules are not listed among the box contents, so check that you have compatible modules and fibre cabling for any SFP links.
